This is arguably one of the most talked about foundations of this year so far, with many beauty gurus featuring it in their ‘best of 2017’ videos despite only being released one month before the end of the year in America. Nars Sheer Glow is my holy grail foundation of all time, it is always the one foundation I go back to, providing medium coverage with a real glow, so I was so excited to try this out as soon as I heard about it. So I eagerly awaited it’s January release in the U.K.
It claims to provide medium-full coverage whilst looking natural on the skin, which was another factor that pulled me in, always longing for flawless skin whilst not appearing to wear foundation. I ordered mine off of John Lewis, and when it arrived I wasn’t disappointed. The packaging is possibly my favourite out of all three of their bottle foundations, being so sleek and thin, and it also comes with a pump, so no need to be ordering one separately as you do with the sheer glow.
I tried it on that day, applying it before a long shift at work, as if it can survive a work day, it can survive most days. I think the consistency is definitely thicker than other Nars foundations, allowing it to provide medium to full coverage with just one layer, and it is SO easy to blend out. After blending it out I wasn’t sure of my thoughts at first (being so loyal to the sheer glow), but after a few uses I can definitely say that despite the full coverage appearance, it looks so natural on your skin and not cakey at all, even after a few hours. Yes, you can notice the difference in how it looks from the start of the day to then end, but no foundation ever lasts the WHOLE day on me, so this lasting around 10 hours is good enough for me, because it still looks good then, as long as you top it up with a bit of powder. I don’t find it more radiant than the sheer glow, but it still gives your skin a nice satin finish, not accentuating any problem areas. I will of course continue to use it, mainly on the days where I need the full coverage or if I am out for the day.
Overall I think it is a pretty good new addition to Nars’ range, a must for anyone wanting full coverage without it looking cakey after a few hours. Is it my new favourite foundation? No. But is is one of the top three, and as always different things work different ways for different people. If you don’t fancy the full coverage, definitely go for the Nars sheer glow!
